    Question
Has the mention of "و عجل فرجهم" (Wa 'ajjil farajahum) after sending blessings (Salawat) been narrated from the Imams?

The phrase "wa 'Ajjil Farajahum" after Salawat has been mentioned in authentic Islamic narrations. Scholars, based on these narrations, consider saying it after Salawat as recommended (mustahabb).

Mention of Wa 'ajjil farajahum in Narrations

    1. Imam Sadiq (a) taught Ishaq bin Ammar a prayer for protection from the harm of scorpions and instructed him to recite this phrase three times:«اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ أَسْلَمَ‏ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ‏ فَرَجَهُمْ‏؛ O Allah, Lord of the star Aslam, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, hasten their relief, and keep us safe.»[1]

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, hasten their relief, comfort, ease, and joy, let me taste the sweetness of their relief, and destroy their enemies from among the jinn and mankind.»[2]

    3. Shaykh al-Tusi in his book Tahdhib al-Ahkam narrates from Amir al-Mu'minin (a) that after sending blessings upon Muhammad and his family, the phrase "عجل فرجهم" (Hasten their relief) is mentioned: «صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ‏ فَرَجَهُمْ؛ Send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and hasten their relief.»[3]

    4. Imam Sadiq (a) said: Whoever recites this Salawat after the morning and noon prayers will not die without meeting the Qaim (a): «اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ‏ فَرَجَهُمْ‏؛ O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and hasten their relief.»[4]

Allama Majlisi considered the first narration to be reliable.[5]

Given the reliability of some of these narrations, the recommendation of saying "و عجل فرجهم" after Salawat can be attributed to the narrations of the Infallible Imams (a).
